Verse Seattle is a rental community owned by the Seattle Housing Authority, operated on behalf of the people of Seattle. It is reserved for households earning less than 80% of the Area Median Income at move-in. Rent increases over timed and the property is operated with the goal of providing long-term, high-quality stable homes.
Income Limits
To join us at Verse, you will be asked to verify that you are earning income below the limits posted below. These limits are based on the “Area Median Income” (AMI), a statistic published by the Federal government.
The income limit varies based on the number of people in your household. These limits are reset every year, usually in May. The rents for Verse are set so that they are never more than 30% of the income limit, ensuring their affordability.

Other Rental Criteria
Minimum Income | 2.5x the monthly rent |
Credit Score | 650 credit score |
Criminal Background | The following offenses will make you ineligible: 1) convictions for the production of methamphetamines on Federal housing premises 2) being a registered sex offender in any state |
Household size for 2-bedroom homes | 2BRs are reserved for families of 3 or more people, or 2 people if one is a minor |
Rental history | Positive rental history and landlord reference. No debt owed to landlords and no record of unlawful detainer actions, unless such record is protected by law. |
If your application is denied for any reason, you may request secondary review to explain your circumstances and apply for an exemption.
